Ridge Chardonnay hails from a cool, eastern slope in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge with low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil. Ridge Chardonnay harvest commenced on the 3rd of March. The 2023 harvest was one of the coolest years on record with almost ideal weather conditions leading to the harvest. We were lucky enough to harvest before the substantial rains falling a few days after harvest. This late season rains changed the dynamics of the vintage in many ways.
The 2023 vintage produced a vibrant, energetic, but textured wine with wonderful natural acidity.
Only 5.400 bottles were produced for this vintage.
