TENACITY ( TE NASITI)
MEANING: PERSISTENT, RESOLUTE OR DETERMINED
The Tenacity range of very limited quantities showcases the pinnacle of what be vinously achieved at Hartenberg. The wines could be once-offs in the case of discovered old vine parcels in Bottelary, only to be bottled in exceptional vintages or they could represent wines intended as candidates for CWG Auction.
Cellar Master Carl Schultz crafts three or four possible candidate wines annually for the CWG, assesses their provenance a year or two after bottling, then selects the best two examples for CWG Selection, be it a Shiraz and a Cab or Merlot or Riesling. The wines not used for sale at the exclusive CWG Auction are then offered under this label range, always to a select few discerning customers.
TENACITY RED BLEND 2018
- Total production 200 cases (x 6 bottles)
- This high-end red blend is made in small quantities (only 4 barrles produced) from unique sites which allows for slow and gentle maturation of the wine.
- Cellar Master Carl Schultz recommends drinking after 10 -15 years from vintage
PRODUCTION:
Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. The wine spent 17 months in 45% new French oak barrels and 55% second fill.
TASTING:
Alluring aromas of coffee, ripe dark fruit, plum and toffee welcomes you. The palate is plush on entry with bright fruit and hints of smoke. Pronounced, but fine, dry tannins allow for a long finish.
