Go to the shopMorgenster Estate Sangiovese Rosé Caruso 2025 brings an Italian grape variety into a Cape Winelands setting. Made from 100% Sangiovese, it offers a fruit-led profile of pomegranate and red berries, with subtle spice and a lingering finish. Its relaxed, food-friendly style makes it an inviting choice for an informal meal or a leisurely glass on a sunny afternoon.
The estate’s story is closely tied to Giulio Bertrand, who moved from Italy to South Africa and bought Morgenster in 1992. The farm’s history reaches back around 300 years. Bertrand brought in Pierre Lurton to help develop the estate’s wines, combining an Italian founder’s vision with the Cape’s own sense of place.
Pour a glass, set out a generous plate of food, and let the conversation stretch into the evening.
TASTING NOTES
Pomegranate and red-berry notes lead, with a gentle suggestion of spice. The texture feels velvety, while a lingering finish keeps the fruit in focus. Made entirely from Sangiovese, this dry-style rosé brings a soft, easy-drinking character to the table.
FOOD PAIRING
Pair with a fresh summer salad for an easy, bright match; serve alongside salmon, whose richness is balanced by the rosé’s freshness; or try creamy pasta with prosciutto and asparagus for a fuller meal.
