Go to the shopMade entirely from Pinotage grown in the Coastal Region, the Kanonkop Kadette Pinotage Rosé 2026 comes from bush vines aged five to fifteen years. The 2026 season brought an early start to growth and a harvest slightly ahead of the usual timing. In the cellar, the grapes were pressed promptly to limit colour, then cool-fermented until dry and kept on the lees for three months. The result is a fresh, fruit-led rosé with a delicate floral lift.
Kadette was created as a junior label when demand for Kanonkop’s estate wines was growing. The estate says Kadette grapes now come from beyond its own vineyards, while receiving the same meticulous winery processes as its Estate range. Kanonkop is a fourth-generation family estate, now in the hands of brothers Johann and Paul Krige. Its first wines under the Kanonkop label were produced in 1973; the name recalls a hill where a cannon once signalled ships arriving at Table Bay.
Pour it well chilled as the light settles: a glass for an unhurried aperitif, or a lively companion to a table of summery dishes.
TASTING NOTES
A clear salmon-pink hue leads into aromas of ripe raspberry and cherry, lifted by a subtle elderflower note. On the palate, grapefruit, crisp apple and nectarine bring bright fruit, while fresh acidity keeps the flavours lively. Light in feel and easy to enjoy, this dry Pinotage rosé works as a chilled aperitif or alongside a meal.
FOOD PAIRING
Try it with grilled salmon, where the wine’s bright fruit suits the fish; sushi for a fresh, clean match; peri-peri prawns, whose spice meets the wine’s lively acidity; or roast chicken for an easy, relaxed meal.
