Go to the shopMade from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, Hartenberg Doorkeeper Sauvignon Blanc 2026 begins with grapes picked by hand at daybreak. Its free-run juice ferments in stainless steel, and the wine then rests on its lees for three months. The Doorkeeper label draws on farm motifs, including the sugarbird and the open door to Hartenberg’s underground cellar, giving the range an inviting visual identity.
Hartenberg’s story reaches back to 1692, when Cunraad Boin and Christoffel Esterhuizzen received permission to cultivate land that would become the estate. Esterhuizzen was granted the title deed to Het Hartenberg in 1704. The Mackenzie family has owned the estate since 1986. Set in Stellenbosch’s Bottelary Hills, Hartenberg brings a long sense of place to this bright, contemporary white.
Pour a glass as the table fills and conversation loosens. Let its bright fruit and savoury edge meet a simple supper, or enjoy a quiet moment with the evening light fading beyond the window.
TASTING NOTES
Aromatically expressive, with passionfruit at the centre, the Hartenberg Doorkeeper Sauvignon Blanc 2026 brings a crisp, fruit-forward palate, held in balance by a subtle saline edge. Lively acidity gives the wine an energetic line, leading to a refreshing close. The overall impression is vivid and poised, with the fruit kept bright rather than heavy.
FOOD PAIRING
Try lemon-buttered line fish for a citrus echo, Thai green curry alongside its lively freshness, or butter chicken for a richer contrast.
