Description
Perched on the rugged Porseleinberg mountain in the heart of Swartland, this vineyard is famed for its blue schist soils and minimal-intervention farming. Callie Louw has turned this challenging terrain into one of South Africa’s most revered Syrah sites.
The 2022 vintage was shaped by a dramatic climate, with heavy winter rains followed by an exceptionally hot January. Yet, against the odds, Louw has crafted one of the greatest Syrahs ever produced in South Africa—so much so that it was awarded 99 points by Tim Atkin MW, named Platter’s Red Wine of the Year, and received their top 5-star rating.
This is a wine that will define the decade, offering remarkable aging potential and an unrivaled expression of Swartland Syrah.

- Appearance: Deep, inky purple with a luminous garnet rim.
- Nose: Expressive and layered, with violets, lavender, and black olive tapenade, followed by dark berries, smoked meat, and crushed stone minerality.
