From the established vineyards of Lievland Vineyards on the Simonsberg-Stellenbosch region, the Heart’s Ease Syrah 2019 represents a revival of classic South African Syrah heritage. The vines, some originally planted in 2001, deliver fruit that is handled with care — including a modest whole-bunch component and maturation in mostly neutral 225 L barrels with around 15% new French oak. The result is a wine that combines elegance, terroir-expression and purity of fruit.
Imagine uncorking this wine at an intimate gathering as twilight softens the Stellenbosch hills. The deep ruby hue flows into the glass, the air enriched with the scent of dark plum, black cherry and a whisper of pepper. Each sip draws you into the heritage of the estate, the craftsmanship of the modern cellar and the alluring freshness of the Cape terroir.
Nose: Blueberry, black cherry, tart plum, with subtle herbaceous spice, cumin and peppercorn.
Palate: Medium-bodied with a taut structure, refined tannins, vibrant red and dark fruit core and a poised, fresh finish.
