Description
Afrikaans is made to be accessible but structured with rich, ripe fruit to appeal to the palate and encourage another sip. A red and a white wine for every occasion, without complication, without pretension. Welcoming and exuberant, Afrikaans is made for sharing.
Each vintage features a poem called My Taal (My Language) on the back label. A well-known South African artist writes a new piece for each edition. Volume VII, written by author Deon Meyer, celebrates the Afrikaans language and the wines of the Cape, capturing their essence through his words.
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby in colour, with an expressive bouquet of cassis, dark chocolate and sandalwood. The palate is dry and full-bodied, supported by a firm yet well-balanced tannin structure and fresh acidity. Generous layers of blackberry and blackcurrant are complemented by hints of red cherry, cinnamon and a subtle graphite minerality. Classic Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, while Cinsault adds a gentle softness and lift of red fruit. Mouth-filling and structured, with a long, polished finish.
