Description
rede Chardonnay – or Peace Chardonnay – hails from a northeast-facing slope in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley with low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil. Vrede Chardonnay harvest commenced on the 11th of February. The 2023 harvest was one of the coolest years on record with almost ideal weather conditions leading to the harvest. The Vrede Chardonnay vineyard suffered from fewer winter cold units (at critical stages), which resulted in extremely low yields. We were lucky enough to harvest before the substantial late season rains which changed the dynamics of the vintage in many ways.
The 2023 vintage produced a rich, vibrant, energetic, but textured wine with wonderful natural acidity.
Only 3.576 bottles were produced for this vintage.
