Since 1685 Klein Constantia is being described as one of the world’s most beautiful wine estates. Set in the middle of ancient trees and on the foothills of the Constantiaberg Klein Constantia has beautiful views across False Bay.
20 km away from Cape Town with stunning views across False Bay lies one of the the most well known South African wineries: Klein Constantia.
Klein Constantia became famous by the natural sweet dessert wine Vin de Constance, that ecstasized already in the 18th and 19th century the European royal houses and many writers and poets. Napoleon, Bismarck, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Klopstock, Baudelaire are just a few names of those that fell for the Vin de Constance.
In the 19th century bigger parts of the vineyards were destroyed by the desease Phylloxera. Only at the end of the 20th century Klein Constantia launched the renaissance of the Vin de Constance.
Klein Constantia became over the last years also more and more famous for their Sauvignon Blanc. Due to the cooler climate and the vicinty of the atlantic Klein Constantia is able to produce a range of extraordinary SauvignonBlanc that will be bottle seperatly going forward.
In 2011 Klein Constantia merged with the Stellenbosch property Anwilka and gained two new shareholders: Bruno Prats und Hubert de Bouard.
